「Expression of Glycoprotein Non-metastatic B (GPNMB) / Osteoactivin in keratinocytes and its modulation by pathological cytokines」
（ケラチノサイトにおけるGPNMB /オステオアクチビン発現とサイトカインによる調節）
発表要旨
GPNMB is a highly glycosylated type I transmembrane protein, that is also known as Osteoactivin and Dendritic Cell-Heparin Integrin Ligand. GPNMB shows homology to the melanocyte pMEL17, but is expressed in many cell types including melanocytes, osteoblasts, dendritic cells, and cancer cells, and characterized to have functions in cellular adhesion, proliferation, differentiation, melanosome formation, immune suppression, bone mineralization, and neuroprotection. In the skin, GPNMB was proposed to be expressed specifically in melanocytes, while others showed a broader pattern of expression. However, the expression and role of GPNMB in keratinocytes have not yet been investigated although melanocyte GPNMB is proposed to mediate pigmentation and the adhesion with keratinocytes.We hypothesize that keratinocytes may express GPNMB to maintain tissue integrity and/or regulate skin pigmentation. The aim of this study is to identify the expression and cytokine regulation of GPNMB in normal human epidermal keratinocytes (NHEKs).
